MAXimum Miles for Country Hope
Harley Turner
Passionate father Harley Turner is embarking on a monumental challenge in support of his 5-year-old son Max: running over 330 kilometres from Albury-Wodonga on the NSW-Victorian border to The Royal Children's Hospital in Melbourne.
This epic journey kicks off on 3 September 2025 and culminates on Father’s Day 7 September 2025 - five days of relentless physical effort for a cause very close to Harley’s heart… the ongoing work of Country Hope.
MAXIMUM EFFORT
After developing a love of running over recent times, Harley has vowed to give it his all to raise vital funds and awareness for Country Hope, who has supported his family tremendously since the birth of his son Max in 2020. This journey also shines a spotlight on the urgent need for organ and tissue donation, reminding us to consider how we can save lives through our actions.
MEET MAX: THE INSPIRATION OF HARLEY’S QUEST

The inspiration for MAXimum Miles for Country Hope is Harley’s son Max, who was born with Renal Dysplasia, a rare condition leaving him without functioning kidneys. Max undergoes dialysis four times a week at The Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne, along with countless medical tests, as he waits for the one thing that could transform his life… a kidney donation.
Every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday mornings, young Max spends hours hooked up to a dialysis machine that carries out the job that his small body simply can’t: cleaning his blood, balancing his fluids, and helping him stay healthy enough to keep growing and fighting.
Haemodialysis is a long, uncomfortable, and physically draining medical process that takes Max away from kinder, playing with his siblings and friends, and just being a kid. However, he is a little battler, facing his health journey with quiet courage, supported by his devoted family and committed medical team.
Despite the tubes and needles, the constant hospital visits, and the very tough days, Max remains a bright and brave little boy. His cheeky smile, his resilience, and his ongoing courage are the fuel for dad Harley’s 330km mission from Albury-Wodonga to Melbourne in September. Because when you watch your child’s everyday fight to live, you truly understand the power of hope.
Country Hope has been with Max and his parents, Harley, and Emma, since the very beginning, and Harley is determined to give it his max to raise as much money as possible to enable Country Hope to continue helping other little fighters like Max, as well as encourage organ donation.
GIVE MAXIMUM SUPPORT FOR AN IMPORTANT CAUSE
As Harley clocks up the MAXimum miles, we invite you to help us turn Max’s fight for life into a long and healthy future.
Every step taken by Harley is aimed at making a real and tangible difference, not just for Max, but also for the lives of countless other children facing similar health challenges. Harley’s efforts will ensure Country Hope can support even more country families who have received the devastating news that their child has been diagnosed with cancer or other life-threatening illnesses.
We urge you to donate generously; every little bit helps pave the way towards brighter tomorrows for kids like Max. Whether you contribute financially, share Harley and Max’s story, or start an important conversation about organ donation, your support will make a real difference.
Together, let’s give our MAXimum support to families facing the unthinkable, and help Country Hope’s ongoing financial and emotional support through some of the toughest times they’ll ever face.
