Tom Dean Raises Money for Charities Close to Heart

Tom was a year 10 James Fallon High School student in Albury who liked sport but otherwise didn’t plan beyond tomorrow, when life as he knew it was turned on its head. After experiencing some symptoms of pain and lumps in his neck a biopsy revealed Tom had stage four Hodgkin Lymphoma.

Tom underwent intensive and painstaking treatment at the Royal Children's Hospital where weeks on end he was so ill he could not move.  Tom's father Peter chose to stop working while Tom received treatment, and couldn’t have done so without Country Hope and Ronald McDonald House.

“They were so accommodating right from the word go,” he says.

After Toms treatment being successful he decided to make a bucket list.  In his time since his treatment he has lived life to the fullest.  This year he decided to do something to give back to the charities that meant so much to him and his family during their time of need.

Shave it Back raised $4820 with money raised going to Country Hope, Make A Wish, Challenge and Ronald McDonald House.

Well done Tom, you did a great job. Country Hope appreciates your efforts. It's people like you who help us to support our families. Our thanks to you and your supporters and we hope you stay out of the cold!!
